DBT-ACES

Technology No. 487

DBT-ACES was developed to help clients who have successfully completed Standard DBT to overcome many systemic issues to maintaining self-sufficiency in addition to overcoming their own fears and skills deficits. This advanced level of DBT offers a way to stretch across the divide for the client who hasn’t achieved their life ambitions to work, go to school, or be self-sufficient.

In these manuals, you will find useful and accessible content on DBT-ACES skills training and the overall structure and contingencies that are needed in order to help clients make significant progress and gain momentum towards life worth living goals. The manuals include all of the components of DBT-ACES skills groups, including skills handouts and assignments developed over a period of 20 years at the University of Washington and Harborview Mental Health and Addiction Services. Through the novel DBT-ACES approach, clients will create new capabilities to achieve their employment, relationship, and independence goals.

There are two manuals available through separate licenses: DBT-ACES: Skills Training Manual (2021) and DBT-ACES: A Clinician’s Guide (2021). Purchasing a license will enable you to download a PDF of the manual. There are no hard copies currently available. If you are a clinician on a DBT team, one license to a manual extends to you, your clients, and your DBT consultation team members. Clinicians will want to consider purchasing the licenses for both manuals - the Skills Training Manual for you to share with your clients, and A Clinician’s Guide which is the teaching manual for you to share with your consultation team members. Non-clinicians can purchase these materials as well.
