Forefront Suicide Prevention is a Center of Excellence in the University of Washington's School of Social Work.  We pilot innovative, evidence-informed public health approaches to suicide prevention.  Our mission is to help people take action to reduce suicide in their communities.

International Requests:

University of Washington agreements require additional review if the requesting entity is located in, or affiliated with the government of, China (Including Hong Kong; not including Taiwan), Iran, North Korea, Russia, or Syria. For requests from these countries, please allow for an additional month of processing time for a response.

Available License:

University of Washington Forefront Suicide Prevention provides a variety of educational materials and training programs.  You may select one of the options below.

•    Option 1: LEARN to Prevent Suicide - In this one-hour webinar, participants will learn the Forefront LEARN methodology's five-step process: LOOK, EMPATHIZE, ASK, REMOVE the Dangers, and Take the NEXT Steps. Participants will get access to the LEARN curriculum and presentation materials, enhancing their understanding and application of the LEARN steps.

•    Option 2: LEARN with Others - In this 1.5-hour facilitated training, participants will learn the LEARN methodology in a collaborative environment and do additional skill-building exercises. Participants will gain access to the LEARN curriculum and presentation materials, enhancing their understanding and application of the LEARN steps.

•    Option 3: LEARN for Regulatory and Industry Needs - In this customized, 3-hour facilitated training participants will learn to apply the LEARN methodology tailored to specific regulatory or industry requirements. Participants will get access to the intensive LEARN curriculum and presentation materials customized for their specific regulatory or industry context.

•    Option 4: LEARN for Trainers - Through this 3-hour facilitated training, participants will learn to train others using the LEARN methodology effectively. They will receive Train the Trainer learning materials, including the LEARN curriculum, presentations, supplemental materials, and resources to enhance training sessions. These resources include UW Trainer Notes, a Trainer Script, LEARN wallet cards, one-pagers, a Post Evaluation Link/QR Code, and a Basic Evaluation Report following each training event. Participants will be entitled to 2 seats for training and evaluation, focusing on the evaluation, certification, or recertification of trainers in the LEARN methodology. 

•    Option 5: LEARN for Crisis Planning - In this 1-hour training, participants will learn the five elements of crisis planning: infrastructure, prevention, intervention, re-entry, and postvention. They will learn how to develop their own crisis-planning protocols and procedures.  This training is highly customized to the needs of the Licensee.

•    Option 6: Self-paced LEARN for Organizations: Participants will learn Forefront’s LEARN model through a one-hour, self-guided training. They will also get access to the LEARN Self-paced Online Presentation, which includes the self-guided presentation and videos providing an overview of LEARN. Organizations can host this e-learning file on their learning management systems.

How can you get started?

Proceed by clicking Order Now that leads to the license. Once you do, fill in the necessary details and complete the process by accepting the click-through agreement.

What happens next?

After you submit your license request, it will go through an internal review by a member of the Forefront team. If you haven't already discussed your project with them, they will contact you. Next, Forefront and CoMotion will conduct a final review, and your license will be executed. Forefront will then contact you once your payment is received.

Please note that all parties must review their projects with the Forefront team prior to a license being approved.
