Preventing Addiction Related Suicide (PARS) Web
Technology No. 49414
Preventing Addiction Related Suicide is a prevention intervention
provided to addiction treatment patients who are at higher risk of
suicide. PARS is a 2–3-hour PowerPoint-based, interactive group
session that focuses on future suicide prevention, not acute
treatment. Prior to PARS, no evidence-based suicide prevention
intervention had been developed for alcohol/drug addiction
treatment populations.
PARSWeb is a training for addiction specialists and counselors to help deliver the PARS intervention to their patients/clients in group settings. These materials were developed in collaboration with the AIMS Center and Dr. Richard Ries. The PARSWeb Manual and Training are both being made available at a no or a low cost in hopes of increasing access to this life saving intervention in Washington and across the country.

• A full video example of Dr. Ries facilitating the PARS training live at a community addiction treatment center.
• Highlights of key content sections and group discussions.
